Hello Lipper:
I believe that Alch/Sherpya are going to prepare a ClamWin V.99.4 release. They think that most of the V.99.3 bugs have been taken care of with this version. Look for a beta test soon.
There doesn't appear to me to be any new antimalware detections, but some of the AVs are preparing releases like that now--to take care of bugs and to increase user functionality. Looks like 2018 is going to be quite a buggy year--lots of opportunity for malware!
Regards,

There is a ClamWin version .99.4 beta that has been prepared, but it looks like there are not many beta testers. If you are a ClamWin beta tester, it's here! If you would like to be a beta tester, let Alch know via the Contact link from the main ClamWin web page.

Just wondered if anyone else is having this problem with the latest ClamWin update? And is it a false positive which I should try and overcome and install latest ClamWin anyway.
Sorry if this is not in right part of forum - non-techie married to open source consultant ("your fault for having a windows PC/I know nothing about Windows" - he bought it for me so I could have iTunes) so any advice appreciated. Many thanks.

Did you download the final released ClamWin version .99.4 from the ClamWin web site? I would not trust any other site.
If you can download it, just download--do not run. Then scan it with an updated real-time AV and run/install if the AV says it is okay.
Let us know if problems continue.

Hello Lipper:
I notified Alch/Sherpya/R&R Kid about the EOL. It affects all 0.99 versions of Clam AV. The latest ClamWin version is 0.99.4 since about March 2018, so ClamWin is now an orphan. I suggested that Alch issue a notice on the ClamWin forums that ClamWin has been discontinued. That's about the only thing we can do in view of the lack of support.
It's been quite a ride, and I've enjoyed it!
Regards, and Stay Safe!

Howdy Bob,
I will surely miss ClamWin. I still keep a copy and use it on every Windows machine I have. I suppose I'll keep using it until a signature update breaks the program. I didn't care for ClamAV for Windows when I tried it, but I'll continue using ClamAV on my Linux systems.
As ever,
Lipper

Hey Lipper!
I told the ClamWin developers about this a day or so ago. Alch doesn't see fit to port all Clam AV releases over to ClamWin, but these fix some freshclam bugs, so maybe they will port one or more of these. The way Clam AV is doing their versions now, they are developing them sooner and trying to encourage users to stay up-to-date by a quicker End Of Life.
