This site is devoted to use/users of the ClamWin on-demand antivirus scanner. It is not a real-time AV scanner--it only scans when you do a manual scan or when you have scheduled a scan.
It looks like you are using Clam Sentinel, which was a real-time front-end to ClamWin that was discontinued in 2014. I recommend that you uninstall Clam Sentinel and do not use it unless you are an expert computer user. Because ClamWin is not a real-time AV scanner, you should use ClamWin as a backup to a real-time Av scanner. ClamWin itself is not undergoing much developent, and a real-time scanner by itself should provide you with good protection against viruses/malware. There are lots of good free real-time scanners. I recommend Microsoft's Windows Defender or Fortinet's Forticlient antivirus scanner because they are pretty good, and they do not try to sell you anything or otherwise make money off of their users. Windows Defender comes with Windows 10 computers. It does not require much user attention. Regards, |

Thank you for your recommendation! My computer repair people installed it for me so I'll let them know that it has been discontinued as a real time scanner.

That popup doesn't look like a regular Clam Sentinel message. I know because I was involved with the design of Clam Sentinel. I also do not think that a computer repair shop should be installing that on your computer--especially without your knowledge. If it is not Clam Sentinel, then it is some sort of look-alike.
I suggest that you left click on the Windows pane in the lower left hand corner of your computer (in the system tray) and try to find a program that says Clam Sentinel or a program that has the name Sentinel in its name. Then right click on the name and select to Uninstall. Clam Sentinel can't be installed without ClamWin being installed first, so then see if you also have a program called ClamWin, If you do, uninstall it also. After these 2 programs are uninstalled, reboot and see if you have a badge or shield on the right-hand side of your system tray. If you do, make sure there is a checkmark in the lower right hand side of the badge/shield. If you can't find a badge, tell the computer shop that you want to activate Microsoft Windows Defender as your antivirus. Windows Defender is already built-in to Windows 10--it is free. Les us know if we can be of any more help. Regards, |
