A quick DuckDuckGo search for Shamoon Virus, with Clam AV turned up this at on the web. I don't know how old it is, but if the Cisco guys get a Snort signature, Clam Av is going to also get a signature for the main virus--maybe not some of the related malware, but if you can stop the main virus, you have probably stopped the bulk of the related stuff.

The problem with Clam AV signatures is that it does not get a lot of signatures. Their primary users are Linux email servers which get only a subset of viruses. Clam AV only gets abut 1,000 signatures per day. Emsisoft and other AVs get around 300,000 signatures per day. There is no way a free, open source AV can compete with that! Cisco does what it can to help Clam Av, but it doesn't make any money for it. And ClamWin depends upon Clam Av for just about everything.

That is why you need to use a real-time AV and employ ClamWin as a backup, on-demand scanner.

Thanks for using ClamWin!
